Former AMA Pro Flat Track Rookie of the Year PJ Jacobsen to Head Up Honda's Efforts in 2016 World Supersport Championship

Jacobsen to spearhead Honda’s World Supersport assault in 2016

Patrick ‘PJ’ Jacobsen and the Honda World Supersport Team are ready to challenge for top honours in the upcoming 2016 FIM Supersport World Championship campaign.

The 22-year-old from Montgomery, New York, will line up alongside compatriot and World Superbike rider Nicky Hayden in the Honda garage to ride a Honda CBR600RR prepared by Ten Kate Racing, with the goal to become the first American rider to clinch the ultimate prize in the series.

Last year, Jacobsen joined the Honda family from the seventh World Supersport round onwards. Since then, he rose to the status of championship contender by winning two races and finishing on the podium five times out of six rounds. He eventually ended the season in runner-up spot, and also added two pole positions and two fastest laps to his impressive racing CV.

The opening round of the World Supersport season will take place at Phillip Island on February 28th and it will be preceded by a two-day official test on the same track, scheduled for the Monday and Tuesday.

PJ Jacobsen: “I feel really good going into the new season with Honda and I can’t wait to get started. It’s great to have the opportunity to race with Honda and Ten Kate. The goals for the season are high; I finished second in the championship last year, so the only thing left is to get the number one spot. It’s not going to be easy as there are a lot of competitive riders out there this year, but the key will be to be riding at the front, race in, race out. I intend to take every round as it comes though, starting at Phillip Island of course. I would like to thank Ten Kate and Honda for this opportunity; we’ll do our best to make our fans proud!”

Ronald ten Kate: “We’re happy to confirm our World Supersport effort for 2016. PJ’s perseverance has been rewarded and I believe we have now have the team, the bike and the rider to do well this year. We already tested with PJ before Christmas and he knows the bike inside out, so hopefully we’ll be able to be competitive straight away. I’m really looking forward to the start of the season. I would also like to give a big thank you to all the sponsors who kept believing and supporting this project.”

Marco Chini, Honda's WorldSBK Operations Manager: “We’re happy to have PJ under Honda’s wing for the 2016 season. Last year he showed everybody what he’s capable of and he surely deserved this new shot at the title. PJ’s talent, combined with Ten Kate’s vast experience in the series, make us very confident for the season ahead.”

AMA Pro Road Racing: Continued Economic Downturn Forces MOB Racing's AMA Pro Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series Team to Make Significant Cutbacks

MOB Racing announced today via press release that they will be significantly scaling back their efforts in the Geico Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing Series.  The New Jersey-based team, who had fielded a strong effort in the AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Series during the 2012 season, and in the early rounds of the 2013 season of which the series now goes by AMA Pro Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series.

Fielding riders such as Shane Narbonne (who got the team a win at their home track at NJMP last season), former AMA Pro Flat Track Rookie of the Year PJ Jacobsen (who put one of the team's XR1200s on the pole at the Red Bull Indianapolis MotoGP round in August 2012), AMA Pro Flat Track competitor Cory Texter, and Alex Shaw.

In the shot above taken at the 5th Annual Red Bull Indianapolis MotoGP round of the 2012 AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Series event, the MOB team goes about working on the bikes of their three riders for the second-ever event of the XR1200 Series running as the undercard on the premier road racing series schedule at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on August 19, 2012.

(L-R) PJ Jacobsen's #99 MOB Racing/K Tech/Orient Express/Moroney's H-D-sponsored XR1200, which the former 2010 AMA Pro Flat Track Saddlemen Rookie of the Year put on the pole in his first outing on the team's machine, Calvin Martinez' #28 National Precious Metals/Martinez Motorsports/Teterboro Rams LLC-backed XR1200, and Shane Narbonne's #46 Teterboro Rams LLC/Newsholme Financial Center/Team Pro Motion-sponsored XR1200 all get their final adjustments made prior to the running of race 2 over the MotoGP weekend held at The Brickyard last August.

We wish the team the best in what efforts they do have planned for the remaining part of the 2013 Geico Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing Series and hope that they will be able to work out some type of sponsorship in the near future that will allow them to return to the track with more of a solid financial standing.

A big thanks to Roadracing World.com for this press release concerning the announcement today that MOB Racing will be cutting back their efforts in the Geico Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing Series, of which they have built a strong team in the AMA Pro Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series over the course of the last couple of seasons.  You can read that announcement here.

You can check out MOB Racing's official website here as well, as we wish them the best of luck in being able to regain a stronger foothold in the current economic climate in the racing world in hopes that they will be able to return to the track with a more solid economic backing.

2010 AMA Pro Flat Track Rookie of the Year PJ Jacobsen Heading to British Superbike Championship Series for 2013

Round 3 of the 2012 AMA Pro Flat Track Harley-Davidson Insurance Grand National Championship presented by Motorcycle-Superstore.com season saw the series return to action after the long Daytona season-opener break at the Illinois State Fairgrounds Multipurpose Arena for the final running of the Springfield TT on May 26.

One of the riders on-hand that evening who would try to race his way into the National main from among the 55 riders entered was 2010 AMA Pro Flat Track Rookie of the Year, PJ Jacobsen.  Contesting his #99 Moroney's 800 FastHog.com/Weiss Racing/Revit/Shoei-sponsored Honda CRF450R, the part time flat tracker managed to qualify in the 2nd-place position behind fast qualifier and 2010 AMA Pro Motorcycle-Superstore.com Pro Singles Champion Jeffrey Carver, Jr., and just in front of 3rd-fastest and eventual event winner, Henry Wiles.  Jacobsen and a few other riders get ready to head out for the final round of qualifying in the shot above.

Unfortunately for Jacobsen his evening didn't go as planned, as he was involved in a nasty crash during his heat race 2 that saw him knocked out of commission for the rest of the weekend after hitting the ground hard and suffering what was reported as a concussion due to being hit by several other contenders.

Thankfully, his year went much better after the Memorial Day running of the TT, as PJ headed across the pond to contest the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship Series, run in conjunction with the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship, for the Tyco Suzuki squad.  He finished the season ranked 11th in the series and also pulled off a win at the Donington Park round towards the end of the season.  Also keep in mind, Jacobsen didn't start running the series until July and only contested five total rounds on the year, while also pulling off two more podiums in those events that he did compete in.  Not bad numbers by anyone's calculator!

Tyco was so happy with his results that they have since signed the former flat track rookie of the year to their superbike squad for the 2013 season, which you can read more about below.

Congrats to PJ and we'll be watching him from afar as he competes in the BSB Championshio next year, and don't be suprised to see this fine young man duking it out for wins and the title in his first full year in the series!

Thanks to Roadracing World.com for this link to the official press release about PJ Jacobsen signing to ride for the Tyco Suzuki squad in the 2013 British Superbike Championship Series, which also includes a couple of great photos of PJ competing in the British Superstock Championship during the 2012 season:

AMA Flat Track: Moroney's 1-800-FASTHOG Team Reviews PJ Jacobsen's AMA Flat Track Rookie of the Year Season

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A couple of the team techs for PJ Jacobsen's #99B Moroney's 1-800-FASTHOG/Weiss Racing/Shoei/AStars-sponsored XR750 work on one of his machines while another looks on during a break in the on-track action at the Lima Half Mile in June of 2010. PJ went on to win semi 2 later in the day's events ahead of Chad Cose and Mick Kirkness to put it into the main event of round seven of the AMA Pro Flat Track K&N Filters presented by Motorcycle Superstore.com Grand National Championship 2010 season, and finishing the main in the 13th spot. PJ had earlier in the year qualified for his first Expert Twins event in the May running of the Springfield Mile, where he finished in 6th place for his first Grand National main.
PJ and the team went on to qualify for the Lucas Oil Indy Mile (7th place) and the season ending event at the Yavapai Downs Mike (9th place) and went on to win the AMA Pro Flat Track Rookie of the Year Award in the process. PJ also raced for Celtic Racing in the AMA Pro Daytona Sportbike Class and placed 11th in the final year-end standings for the team while campaigning a Suzuki GSX-R600.
Let's hope we see much more of PJ and the Moroney's 1-800-FASTHOG team back in the series running strong again in the 2011 season. Great season guys, and congrats!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PJ Jacobsen had a great year in the four events he was able to campaign in his rookie year of AMA Flat Track Grand National Championship Series racing in 2010, finishing three of those four events in the top 10 and picking up the coveted AMA Pro Flat Track Rookie of the Year Award along the way. Racing for one of the long-time competitors in the series on Pat Moroney's
1-800-FASTHOG-sponsored Harley-Davidson XR750s, the team again put together fast and reliable machines for the new lid on the block in AMA Flat Track racing. And perform he did!

While splitting time in the AMA Pro Daytona Sportbike Class on the road racing side of the calendar, PJ showed he has what it takes to get and keep it at the front while hitting some of the toughest tracks on the schedule. At Springfield, Indy and Prescott Valley, PJ and the team put it in the top ten of each main event and at the rough-and-tumble Lima Half Mile in late June, PJ won his semi and came home 13th in the main event. He finished the year in 18th place in the overall standings with 44 points for his rookie campaign, this again after only four events.

Here's hoping we see much more of PJ next year in the AMA Pro Flat Track K&N Filters presented by Motorcycle Superstore.com Grand National Championship Series.

PJ's Moroney's 1-800-FASTHOG team came out with this 2010 season review and you can read it right here thanks to Ultimate Motorcycling.com, along with a couple of shots of the team during the season:

AMA Flat Track:2010 Season End Awards For GNC Jake Johnson & Zanotti Racing, P.J. Jacobsen GNC Rookie of the Year

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2010 AMA Flat Track Twins and Grand National Champion Jake Johnson surveys the action on the track just before rolling out for final qualifying at the Springfield Mile on September 5. The new #1 for 2011 will be the third different number Jersey Jake has worn after having worn the #14 before being awarded the single-digit #5 for the 2o1o season in what is one instance of recognizing all past champions still competing in both the Twins and Singles Series, while still bringing the AMA Flat Track Grand National Championship back as the overall #1 for the 2010 season and beyond. Johnson had won the '06 and '08 AMA Flat Track Singles Championships while riding for Suzuki.
The Zanotti Racing/Leo Vince/Arai/Tucker Rocky-sponsored rider hooked up with the team for the 2010 season, spear-headed by Dave Zanotti, the son of Mario Zanotti, who along with Steve Eklund back in 1979 were the first privateer team in 16 years to win the coveted AMA Grand National Championship. The team won the overall AMA GNC making them the first father and son-run team to win the series highest honor. At the awards banquet, team members Zanotti, Ted McDermitt and Mike Hacker were awarded the K&N Filters Grand National Championship Mechanics of the Year award for their efforts in wrenching JJ to the crown, and the team was also awarded the Team Excellence Award.
Super effort by these guys for what they have done in 2010. Congrats go out to Jake Johnson and the entire Zanotti Racing team for their hard work in winning the 2010 AMA Flat Track Grand National Championship. Great job guys, great job!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

P.J. Jacobsen sits on his #99B Moroney's/1-800-FAST HOG/Weiss Racing/Shoei-backed XR750 while talking with announcer Scotty Duebler after having won the second semi to gain a ticket to the National Main Event at the Lima Half Mile on June 26.
P.J. qualified for four National main events this year, with a best finish of 6th place at the May Springfield Mile, as well as a 7th at the Lucas Oil Indy Mile. He eventually finished 13th at Lima, and also finished out the season with a 9th place finish in Prescott Valley on October 9. He ended the season ranked 18th in the AMA Flat Track Grand National Championship with a total of 44 points. As a result of his fine year, P.J. was awarded the AMA Flat Track Saddlemen Rookie of the Year award at the season ending awards banquet on October 10.
After splitting his time while also running some AMA Road Racing events in the 2010 season for Celtic Racing, we hope to see much more of him in the AMA Pro Flat Track K&N Filters presented by Motorcycle Superstore.com Grand National Championship Series in the 2011 season. Congrats P.J. for your ROY award for the 2010 season. Great job!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To the winner go the spoils, so they say, and the season ending awards banquet for the 2010 AMA Flat Track Grand National Championship Series awarded the official #1 plate to Jake Johnson and the Zanotti Racing team in Prescott Valley on October 10. Although the big money isn't and hasn't been a part of the scene in AMA Flat Track for some time, unfortunately, there was still season-ending cash to be paid out to the winners and entrants of the 2010 AMA Pro Flat Track K&N Filters presented by Motorcycle Superstore.com Grand National Championship Series thanks to the title sponsors, K&N Filters, having come on board with the series at the end of May. With a points pay-out for the top ten in the overall point standings, cash and trophies were the norm for the day in Arizona.

Johnson and the Zanotti Racing crew took home a large portion of the year's payouts due to their winning the overall title, including the ceremonial #1 plate to go along with winning the 2010 AMA Flat Track Grand National Championship, and the team was lauded for their efforts with the Mechanic of the Year Award as well. As mentioned in a previous post, Kawasaki was awarded the Manufacturer of the Year Award for the first time ever, and they also won the Singles Manufacturer of the Year Award (in large part due to Henry Wiles winning four Singles mains this year at the Springfield TT and Short Track, the Gas City Short Track round and at the famous Peoria TT as well. Harley-Davidson won the Twins Manufacturer of the Year Award to also garner some of the glitter for their efforts in winning the Twins Class point standings and putting the XR750 up front and center again as it has been since the early '70s in AMA Flat Track racing.

And P.J. Jacobsen, who until this year had been spending most of his time road racing, attempted to qualify for six main events this year, making four of those, and finishing 18th in the season overall point standings with 44 points to garner the Rookie of the Year Award for the 2010 AMA Pro Flat Track season. We can only hope this young man wants to keep running in the series for 2011 and beyond, as he put on some good shows on the track this year on his Moroney's FAST HOG-sponsored XR to keep the fans on their feet. Whatever he may end up doing he has a very long and bright future ahead of him at the young age of 17. We hope to see him back next year for some flat track events. Great job this year, P.J.!

You can check out some of the official stories below from the season ending race and banquet, with some great shots from those on-hand to highlight the end of this great season of racing in the AMA Pro Flat Track Series for the 2010 year. And a big shout-out and thank you to K&N Filters for coming on board with AMA Flat Track to put up the money for the season-ending pay out. Bravo to K&N and we hope to see them back on board again next year as well. Thanks guys!

AMA Pro Flat Track Lucas Oil Indy Mile MotoGP Weekend Preview

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Former AMA Flat Track winner and National #23 Kevin Atherton (L) makes an adjustment on the Latus/Lloyd Bros/American Agip Ducati of Joe Kopp, the 2000 AMA Grand National Champion, as one of the Lloyd Bros. team members looks on. Kopp took the big twin Ducati to the mile win at Arizona back on May 1st, and hopes to do so again at the Lucas Oil Indy Mile on Saturday night. Per the entry list as of this writing he is entered on the Ducati. Larry Pegram will be making an appearance as well and you can read more on that below.
On the right side of the shot, which was taken at Lima in June, is defending Twins Champion Jared Mees #1 Rogers Lake/Blue Springs-sponsored XR750 as it is being brought up for race time from the pit area. Look for both Jammin' Jared and Smokin' Joe Kopp to be in the mix all night this coming Saturday. It's going to be fast and fun!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of the all-time legendary figures in AMA Flat Track is 7-Time AMA Flat Track Grand National Champion tuner Kenny Tolbert. Behind the infamous Bill Werner, Kenny has wrenched
for more AMA Flat Track Grand National Championships and main event wins then any other tuner to have ever walked the hallowed grounds of an AMA Flat Track event. Of course, those multiple championships and wins have come with the pairing of Tolbert with 7-Time AMA Grand National Champion, and the Prince of Peoria, Chris Carr, whose #4 Lancaster H-D/DFW Honda/Arai Helmets-backed XR750's sit in the foreground of this shot at Lima earlier this summer. Of course, Carr won the return to the Lucas Oil Indy Mile in September of 2008, and the pair will be looking to repeat that success in just less then 48 hours from this writing.
I was very fortunate to be able to officially meet both Chris and Kenny earlier this summer and can say it was a pure delight to be able to meet, talk and get to hang out with them. There is nothing like having watched your heroes for over two-and-a-half decades to finally get to meet them and learn they still have the enthusiasm and the drive that you always thought they would and did, as well as learn that they were two of the funniest and warmest individuals to talk with in general. These guys have always had an ultra-strong mile track program, so look for the pairing to put Chris' #4 up at the front Saturday night at the Indy Mile.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When you talk legends in AMA Flat Track racing, the names Jay Springsteen and Bill Werner always come to the top of the heap. The pairing of the '76-'78 AMA Grand National Champion Springer with super-tuner to the stars Bill Werner in the Harley-Davidson Factory Wrecking Crew was a match and friendship made in heaven. Springer went on to win 40-some odd races along with his three GN Championships, and Bill Werner went on to win some 150 Grand National races as well as 13 Championships as a tuner to the stars. Besides his three with Springer, Bill got his first in '75 with then-champ Gary Scott, and went on to collect nine more with the all-time winner in AMA Flat Track racing, Scott Parker, as the two paired for over a decade-and-a-half to win over 90 races and nine championships together. Can you say history re-written?!
Werner and Springsteen paired up after the '09 season was over and formed Werner Springsteen Kawasaki Racing, and put National #42 Bryan Smith in the seat of the team's Ninja 650-based twins racers. With sponsorship from Monster Energy/Kawasaki/Wossner Pistons/Supertrapp and a list that would cover this page, the team has had some bright spots in a growing year, one of which was when Smith put the #42 machine on the podium in the spring running of the Springfield Mile. Teething and growing the first-year team being what it is, going into the Lucas Oil Indy Mile, the team sits eighth in the AMA Pro K&N Filters Grand National Overall Championship. Saturday night could be a big building block, and with Indy and three other mile tracks left in the season, could finish strong to wrap up the season. Never count these men out as there is way too much experience between them to rule them out.
In the picture Springer can be seen speaking with AMA Flat Track's Ken Saillant while Bill Werner looks over the machines in final prep before the running of the Lima Half Mile earlier this year.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3-Time AMA Grand National Champion, and now #2-plate wearer Kenny Coolbeth, Jr., looks on during rider intros at Lima in June. Sponsored by the Screamin' Eagle/H-D Motor Corp/Arai and Fox, Coolbeth won the '09 running of the Lucas Oil Indy Mile, and with a factory motor, you can never rule him out on the big tracks. Or anywhere, for that matter, as the 18 year veteran is older, wiser and much more cunning then his youthful looks make him out to be.
Just in front of the King of Cool is GN rookie PJ Jacobsen and his #99B Moroney's 1-800-FASTHOG/Weiss Racing/Shoei-sponsored XR750 and crew.
Contesting the AMA Road Racing Series this year for Celtic Racing, PJ has been taking some time off from the pavement races to run some AMA Pro Flat Track events, winning a semi in Lima and also putting it into the field at the spring mile at Springfield. He'll be at Indy trying to make the field again before he heads to New Jersey for the penultimate round of the AMA Road Racing Series during Labor Day Weekend. You can read his team's press release below and find out more PJ.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Current AMA Flat Track Manager Mike Kidd, former National #72 and then #7 after winning the 1981 AMA Grand National Championship, rolls through the pits at Indy during the double-header round in August of 1977. Just a week before, MK had crashed at the terrible Terre Haute track, breaking his wrist/forearm-if you look closely, you can see his cast on his left arm. He came back to podium and win this very weekend, and won a total of two Indy Miles in his long and illustrious AMA Flat Track career. A multiple factory team rider, Mike rode for the factory Triumph and Harley-Davidson teams and was one of the first riders to sign up with Honda when they came into AMA Flat Track in the early '80s. Winning the '81 AMA Grand National Championship by five points in the final round at Ascot over Hank Scott, Mike was also the first rider to bring outside-the-sport sponsorship to the table in running his own program. His Army sponsorship for his AMA Flat Track program in the late '70s/early '80s was unprecedented for it's day and set the bar for future outside-the-sport sponsorships to come into the great sport of flat track racing.
Since retiring from racing, he and his brother Gary started the Arenacross series, ran it successfully and then sold it to Clear Channel and ran the program for them for some years, with also a high level of success in doing so with his and his brother's knowledge of the sport, the fans and the racers. Mike and Gary have brought the same level of enthusiasm and professionalism to AMA Flat Track in running the program for them the last couple of years, and both are largely responsible, along with former Grand National competitor Steve Morehead, of bringing the sport of AMA Flat Track back to the forefront in terms of excitement and high speed thrills. Their knowledge of the sport, the owners, fans, promoters and track preparation have turned the sport around where the show now goes off on time-in most cases-and is efficient and fun to be a part of again. And he still has his youthful smile that he had some 36 years ago when I first started watching him win races in this great arena of high speed motorcycle racing.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brandon Robinson, National #44, sits in his pits while being interviewed by Larry Lawrence of The Rider Files.com during the Gas City Short Track earlier in the summer. Sponsored by Lancaster H-D/Action Motorsports/Ruckus 44 and his parents and grand parents, Brandon may best be remembered at this point in time for two things. One, winning the 2008 AMA Flat Track Expert Twins Championship, and two, flying out of the park at the Indy Mile during the August 2009 running of the main event in turn one. Coming back from devastating leg, hip and rib injuries at the very least, the young man looked good at Gas City and finished seventh in the short track Expert Singles event in June.
Since he is still in the healing process, and admitted in June that his movement 'is very limited at this time' from all of his operations from his injury, Brandon didn't run last weekend's Peoria event in order to rest up for Indy this weekend. We can't wait to see the enthusiastic young man back out in the mix on the big tracks again and wish him the very best of luck-and safe racing-for his future!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Larry Pegram rolls his #72F Lloyd Bros/American Agip Ducati into place in the pits at Indy during August of 2009 in preparation for the evening's events. Larry didn't make the main last year, but came back on the bike-now running the #99 number plate-to get 10th at the spring running of the Springfield Mile. With Joe Kopp having won at Arizona now, Larry is ready to equal that result after the work he has helped the team with in getting the big twin Ducati up to speed in AMA Pro Flat Track competition.
This weekend should help as Larry has the weekend off from his Foremost/Ducati/Pegram Racing AMA Road Racing duties, and will be looking to put it in the show and finish up front on the Hypermotard 1100-based machine. We'll be ready to see him put it together. Larry has been competing in AMA Flat Track for over 20 years now.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With less than 48 hours until the running of the 2010 edition of the Lucas Oil Indy Mile AMA Pro Flat Track event, Stu's Shots wanted to bring this little preview out since we will be at both IMS and the Indiana State Fairgrounds over the course of the next three days for this monumental weekend here in the World Capital of Racing.
Since being paired up with the Red Bull Indianapolis MotoGP round, AMA Pro Flat Track's return to the popular Indy Mile track has seen a resurgence in fans, action, race teams and the program as an overall whole. With AMA Flat Track Manager Mike Kidd at the helm, with the help of his brother Gary, along with track-prep specialist and former Grand National competitor Steve Morehead, the series is hitting on all cylinders and at a pretty good clip as well.
With title sponsorship being announced in late May in the terms of the series new name--AMA Pro K&N Filters presented by Motorcycle Superstore.com Grand National Championship--Mike and Company have really helped to turn the greatest show on wheels around in very little time. Considering the dwindling numbers in the ranks of racers, venues and fans from just six or so years ago, the series has and is once again proving to all why the Rolling Thunder show is the best show on two wheels again.
With this being the third year back since returning to Indy since the late '90s, the action should be fast and very furious for the first of six remaining events on the AMA Pro Flat Track schedule. Including Indy, with four miles, one half mile and one short track left in the 2010 season, round 12 at Indy could very well prove to be pivotal in many ways. And with the crowd that is expected to be on hand, this will be a great showcase to kick in the run to the 2010 AMA Grand National Championship, where the eventual champion will be crowned in Arizona the second weekend in October. With the overall championship having Joe Kopp out front with 208 points over second place Sammy Halbert with 191 points, Jake Johnson in third with 190, defending Singles Champion Henry Wiles in fourth with 188, and defending Twins Champion Jared Mees in fifth with 187 points, the race for the crown is far from over. And is most likely to get pretty heated starting about 7:30 PM EDT Saturday evening.
Believe me, you don't want to miss it as the AMA Pro Flat Track Rolling Thunder Show storms into the Indiana State Fairgrounds and shows the fans where, and what, the real racing is all about. Be there or be square, as it's gonna fly by you at about 140 MPH in a pack that make fighter pilots look like youngsters.
Read some of the releases and whether you are there, or not, you can follow the action below with the links provided. Stu's Shots will be there and will have some extra coverage after the weekend is over to showcase this great two wheeled sport that is re-inventing itself and showing the fans that everything else is just a race.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's a press report from defending GN Twins Champ Jared Mees as he talks about the last two races and the lead up to Saturday night's legendary Indy Mile pairing with the Red Bull Indianapolis MotoGP round:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note--I didn't post a link for the AMA Flat Track Live Timing and Scoring since they don't put the fresh and updated link up until the day of the race itself. I have updated the link on the left side column, which should prove to be correct with the way they have been changing the paths for the link to each race. However, on race day you should be able for sure to get it by going to the link below, which is the AMA Pro Racing opening page, and they should have a link for it at the top of the page highlighted in green, again, come race day:
