AMA Pro Racing Recognizes Top Performers of 2013 GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing Season in Year-End Awards Celebration
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (October 2, 2013) - Last weekend, GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing wrapped up its 2013 season with some thrilling on-track action at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif. and saw a new National Guard SuperBike Champion crowned. At the conclusion of the event on Sunday evening, the annual 2013 Year-End Awards Celebration was held to acknowledge and compensate many of the series' star-studded competitors for their efforts and impressive achievements attained over the course of the 2013 season.
For their integral part in the success of the 2013 season, the GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing community would like to extend many thanks to all of the sponsors that supported these important year-end awards.
AMA Pro National Guard SuperBike
No. 2 Monster Energy Graves Yamaha rider Josh Herrin edged out teammate and reigning three-time National Guard SuperBike Champion Josh Hayes by 15 points in the standings to claim his first career championship in the elite class. Herrin recorded four wins in 2013 and finished inside the top five in every race but one. The Dublin, Ga. product was recognized for his astonishing achievements this season and was awarded $20,000, a specially-made Dunlop guitar and the coveted National Guard SuperBike No. 1 plate for winning the championship.

AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike
No. 6 Yamaha Extended Service rider Cameron Beaubier never let up in 2013 as he completely dominated the competition, earning him his first career AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike Championship. Beaubier won 12 of the 13 races this season and easily claimed the record for most GoPro Daytona SportBike victories in a single season. Some of Beaubier's proponents would argue that Beaubier should get all the cash, but the Roseville, Calif. product was forced to settle with a $25,000 check, as well as a Dunlop guitar and the GoPro Daytona SportBike No. 1 plate at the ceremony.

AMA Pro Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport
No. 12 RoadRace Factory Yamaha pilot Tomas Puerta locked up his first AMA Pro Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport Championship this season. Puerta dominated the West division, winning three races and landing on the podium at least once every weekend. In the East Division, Corey Alexander barely edged out archrival Hayden Gillim by a single point to claim the Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport East championship.

The Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport Sportsmanship Award is a new award for 2013 that went to the rider who best displayed sportsmanlike qualities and fellowship towards their fellow competitors and race staff. Hayden Gillim conveyed an enthusiastic image and positive public promotion of the sport throughout the 2013 season.
AMA Pro Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series
No. 5 Suburban Motors rider Steve Rapp's six Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series victories were enough to win the 2013 XR Showdown, awarding him a $25,000 check, Vance & Hines jacket and the Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series No. 1 Plate for his efforts. Rapp was the premier rider on the circuit all season long, as he finished 34 points ahead of next-best competitor Tyler O'Hara in the standings.
The XR Showdown and additional AMA Pro Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series Awards distributed in Monterey included:

The Sunoco "Go the Distance" Award went to the rider in each class that completed the furthest distance in 2013 events:
- National Guard SuperBike - Josh Hayes received a $5,000 check for recording 830 laps (2,161 miles)
- GoPro Daytona SportBike - Melissa Paris received a $5,000 check for recording 827 laps (2,243 miles)
- Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport - Tomas Puerta received a $2,500 check for recording 555 laps (1,508 miles)
- Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson - Shane Narbonne received a $2,500 check for recording 406 laps (1,086 miles)
The Cardo "Communication in Motion" Award went to the rider that attended the most ancillary fan events and activities throughout the 2013 season.
- Winner - Joey Pascarella (Riders Discount Racing Triumph) - $2,000
The Cortech "Performance Edge" Award was awarded to the National Guard SuperBike rider who had the most number of fast laps of the race this season:
- Winner - Josh Hayes (Monster Energy Graves Yamaha) - $2,000
The Roadracing World Young Gun of the Year Award went to the GoPro Daytona SportBike or Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport rider under the age of 19 at the beginning of the 2013 season that earned the most points in 2013.
- Winner - Corey Alexander (National Guard Celtic Racing) - $2,500
The Saddemen Rookie of the Year Award went to the eligible rider who had the most success in their first year in GoPro Daytona SportBike.
- Winner - Jake Lewis (Meen Motorsports) - $5,000
The Next Moto Champion Rider of the Year Award went to the rider who that contributed to the sport in a positive way both on and off the track.
- Winner - JD Beach (RoadRace Factory) - $1,000
