Anthem Motorsports Releases "Daytona Hot Shoe: The History of Short Track Motorcycle Racing in Daytona"
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 6, 2012) - Anthem Motorsports, a leading motorsports marketing and custom media production company, and noted author J.J. O'Malley have released "Daytona Hot Shoe: The History of Short Track Motorcycle Racing in Daytona," a retrospective coffee table book. The 136-page publication chronicles the exciting history of the AMA Pro Flat Track events that have long been a part of the famous "Bike Week" events in Daytona Beach, Florida.
"With 50 years of history, the short track racing events in Daytona have become a highlight of Bike Week and the DAYTONA® 200 Week racing events," said O'Malley, author and motorsports journalist. "This book traces the history of the event by looking at each unique decade and telling the stories that have made these races fan favorites."
The book features nearly 200 color and black and white photographs that follow the history from the early days of the event at Daytona Beach's old Municipal Stadium, to the more recent events at the DAYTONA® Flat Track short track at Daytona International Speedway. Among the many riders interviewed include Dick Mann, Gary Nixon, Joe Leonard, Ronnie Rall, Scott Parker, Ronnie Jones and Joe Kopp. Chris Carr provided the Foreword.
"Reliving the great moments as the event has evolved provides a great look at how the sport has become so popular," O'Malley said. "There is a passionate group of enthusiasts that follow and participate in this form of racing and they have a great legacy to carry on."
O'Malley's credits include "Daytona 24 Hours, the history of the Rolex 24 At Daytona," and two books on the history of racing at Watkins Glen, N.Y. "Daytona Hot Shoe" is his first production with Anthem Motorsports.
"It is great to work with an author like J.J. and to document the tremendous history of this event for fans of motorsports around the world," said Tom Pokorny, President of Anthem Motorsports. "There is such a wealth of great stories and photographs that it was clearly time to create an outlet for them."
