AMA Pro Flat Track: Weirbach Racing's Rob Pearson Files His Sacramento Mile Race Report
Rob Pearson and the #27 Weirbach Racing team had a strong result last weekend at round 5 of the 2013 AMA Pro Flat Track presented by J&P Cycles Grand National Championship season at the Sacramento Mile.
Parking the team's Harley-Davidson XR750 for the evening, they brought out their potent Suzuki SV650 for the evening's events, where 'Bugs' was able to bring the Iowa-based team an 8th-place finish for their efforts for the day at the Cal Expo Fairgrounds-hosted event.
In the shot above, Pearson is shown on his #27 American H-D/Matt Reecy Racing-sponsored XR750 at the Lake Odessa, MI. round of the 2011 AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Championship season at the I-96 Speedway, heading out for the day's first practice session along with Bryan Smith on his #42 Moroney's Fasthog.com XR and Sammy Halbert on his #7 Kings Kustoms XR.
Pearson and the Weirbach Racing team released their Sacramento race report today, which you can check out below.
A big congrats to Rob and the team for a solid effort last weekend, and you can check them out next as they head to the Pacific Northwest to contest round 6 of the season at the Castle Rock TT this Saturday, August 3.

July 27, 2013 the Sacramento Mile
We made it to Sacramento Friday after racing in Champaign, IL Wednesday night during the fair and that was a long drive in 2 days.
We had a good night Wednesday at the cushion half mile in Champaign bringing home second to Sammy Halbert.
Sacramento started out like usual, a light cushion until eventually taking rubber and grooving up around the bottom. Qualifying didn't go as planned, after being around 8th overall the first 2 sessions, during the last session the track was prepped after our group and made for way faster times. This put us 21st overall and gave me a 2nd row start in heat 3.

Fortunately the Weirbach Racing SV650 got off the line great and I made it from the 2nd row to take a 2nd-place finish in the heat. Our heat race finish was good enough to get a spot in the Dash for Cash where we finished 5th.
I got a decent start in the main event and ran as high as 6th, battling for most of the race with Jake Johnson and Kenny Coolbeth. I didn't save any tire for the end of the race and eventually had to settle for an 8th place finish.

After qualifying in the 21st spot out of the 32 riders that took a timed lap at the Cal Expo Fairgrounds-hosted event, Pearson got a 2nd-place finish in heat #3 behind heat, Dash and National main event winner Bryan Smith, and followed that up with an 8th-place finish in the National main later in the evening. Pearson sits in the 9th-place overall spot in the championship standings heading to round 6 this Saturday, August 3 for the running of the Castle Rock TT. We ended up having a pretty good day after qualifying as far back as we did.
Now we are getting ready for Castle Rock, WA. this weekend and I'm ready to get back on the Honda and put it on the podium.
Hope to see you at the races.
