Motorland Aragon the Scene for MotoGP Round 13

Some of the Moto2 teams have their wares lined up outside the garage areas mixed in with some of the 125CC machines at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the 3rd Annual Red Bull Indianapolis MotoGP round of the MotoGP World Championship. The Moto2 class is in it's freshman year, and has proved to be a very exciting class after replacing the 250CC two-strokes at the beginning of the year. With a control Honda 600-spec motor, endless chassis choices, and add in individual team electronics, control Dunlop tires and control fuel, and you get 12-16 bikes on any given day running within a second of one another. It sure beats watching the processional 800's in the big class.
2012 can't get here fast enough with the 1000's and hopefully if the powers that be listen to the riders, teams and fans, they ease up on some of the electronics to keep these things from looking like a parade. We'll see.

MotoGP is in Spain this weekend, the third of four rounds scheduled to run there this year on the 18 round calendar. The Motorland Aragon is a new track that is actually replacing the Hungarian round that was originally on the calendar for the 2010 season.

David Emmett runs the MotoMatters.com site that is second to none when it comes to on the spot news from the European racing scene, but most especially MotoGP, Moto2 and the 125CC circus. He's at Aragon this weekend and shot some pictures of the track, and it looks like a pretty neat and racy lay-out. I'm looking forward to seeing this one on the tube from the chopper cams.
